A California notary public is qualified to take the 3-hour refresher course if:
- You hold an active notary public commission AND
- Your current commission expires within the next 12 months AND
- You have satisfactorily completed the 6-hour notary public education course approved by the California Secretary of State AND
- You are applying for a new commission and you complete the course (and pass the state exam) BEFORE your current commission expires.
**Please be certain you qualify to take the 3-hour course BEFORE signing up for the course.**
